01-08-26 - August ICO Team England Squad Training Complete!

Despite it being the peak of the summer holidays and with hot, muggy conditions making training even more demanding, we still welcomed an outstanding turnout of 50 athletes for our latest ICO Team England Squad Training Session.

The intensity is rising as the countdown to the ICO World Championships continues!

Our latest ICO Team England Squad Training Session, held today at the USKA Fight Factory and conducted by ICO Head England Ring Sports Coach Neil Kelly, delivered another high quality afternoon of preparation as the squad edges ever closer to France.

Despite many athletes being away on holiday, those who attended were in for one of the toughest sessions yet. The message was clear... it's time to raise the intensity.

The afternoon centred around set discipline Kickboxing padwork, with athletes repeatedly drilling structured combinations to develop precision, consistency and discipline under pressure. Every round demanded focus, sharp execution and the determination to maintain technical excellence, even as fatigue began to take hold.

Alongside the padwork came a relentless programme of strength and conditioning, pushing athletes physically and mentally beyond their comfort zones. The emphasis wasn't simply on getting stronger or fitter, it was about developing the mindset required when the going gets tough. Championship success often belongs to those who can keep performing when their body wants to stop, and that mentality was at the heart of every drill throughout the session.

The hard work doesn't stop here.

Our next ICO Team England Squad Training takes place on Saturday 5th September, where all selected athletes will receive their official Team England kit and complete their pre-championship medicals as preparations enter their final phase before travelling to the ICO World Championships in France.

Every session brings us one step closer.

Team England... it won't be long before it's time to let the Lions out of the cage!
