04-07-26 - Another Red Hot ICO Team England Squad Training session complete at the USKA Fight Factory!
With the ICO World Championships in France now just a few months away, preparations stepped up another level as over 50 Team England Squad members traveled from all corners of the country to the USKA Fight Factory today for another intensive three hour national training session.
The session was conducted by ICO Head England Coach Neil Kelly, who guided the squad through another demanding program designed to sharpen the technical and tactical skills required to compete at World Championship level.
Every squad session now carries even greater importance as we move into the final phase of our World Championship preparations. The foundations have been laid over recent months and attention is now firmly focused on refining every detail that could make the difference on the world stage.
The technical theme for this session centered around trigger combination counter attacks, developing the ability to react instinctively with fast, fluent combinations the moment an opponent creates an opening. We then progressed onto using fakes, feints and distractions to manufacture opportunities, breaking an opponent's rhythm before launching decisive striking combinations.
At this level, success is often decided by the smallest of margins. A fraction of a second quicker, one better decision, or one perfectly disguised attack can be the difference between victory and defeat, so every drill was designed with those fine details in mind.
The day also marked the final opportunity for squad members to be measured for their official Team England fight kit, ensuring everyone is fully prepared ahead of October's World Championships in France.
There is now a real sense that we have entered the business end of the journey. Every remaining training session is about crossing every t and dotting every i, leaving absolutely no stone unturned in our pursuit of excellence. The commitment, professionalism and work ethic shown by every athlete continues to be outstanding, and it is inspiring to see so many dedicated competitors willing to travel the length and breadth of the country in pursuit of the same dream.
The countdown is well and truly on, and Team England continues to move one step closer towards our ultimate goal... standing on the World Championship podium with Gold medals around our necks.
A huge thank you to every athlete, coach and supporter who continue to make these sessions possible. The hard work continues.
