12-09-26 - USKA Fight Factory at the 2026 ICO Oxford Champions Open
The USKA Fight Team were back on the road today, making the journey from Birmingham to the White Horse Tennis and Leisure Centre in Oxford to compete at this year’s ICO Oxford Champions Open.
Led by USKA Fight Coach Mushy Younis, our seven-strong team of Adam Mohammed, Daniel Kiss, Kevin Cojocaru, Amad Azim, Isaac Dodds, Julia Glowacz and Isa Khan took to the mats across multiple disciplines throughout the day.
The standard of competition was high and there were certainly no easy medals being handed out.
Over the course of the tournament we found ourselves on the wrong side of a few decisions that we may not necessarily have agreed with, but that is part and parcel of competitive sport. If anything, it reinforces something we constantly tell our fighters: wherever possible, don't leave the outcome in somebody else's hands. Take control, dominate the contest and make the decision as clear as you possibly can.
Competing across Mat Light, Kick Light and Boxing, our fighters were required to continually adapt to different opponents, styles and disciplines. It was great to see them putting the skills developed back at the gym into practice and producing some excellent performances along the way.
By the end of a long but thoroughly enjoyable day, the team were heading back to Birmingham with another fantastic collection of silverware:

🥉 2 Bronzes
An incredible 23 medals from just seven fighters!
It's also worth mentioning that one of those Silver medals came from an all-USKA final, meaning one of our own fighters had to settle for Silver while another took the Gold.
A fantastic achievement from the team, made even more impressive by the fact that several of our fighters are still relatively inexperienced and continuing to learn and develop every time they compete.
A huge thank you to the organisers of the ICO Oxford Champions Open for putting together another well-run event, to everyone who supported and cheered our fighters on throughout the day, and to our coaches for the work they continue to put into preparing and supporting the team.
Most importantly, massive respect to every one of our competitors who had the courage to step onto the mats and represent USKA Fight Factory with pride.
With only a handful of competitive opportunities remaining before the ICO World Championships in France this October, tournaments like today are becoming increasingly important.
They give us the chance to test ourselves under pressure, see exactly where we are, identify where improvements can still be made and measure our progress against the level of competition we are likely to face on the biggest stage.
23 medals in the bag, more valuable experience gained and another step taken towards our ultimate goal... bringing World Championship glory back from France!
