The USKA Fight Team returned from Frankfurt, Germany today laden with medals from the ICO (International Combat Organisation) World Championships.
This years event was the biggest in the Organisations' history with nearly 800 fighters and 1900 starts and 25 International teams in attendance.
Held at the impressive Kalbach Sports and Leisure Stadium the competition featured multiple fighting disciplines alongside forms and weapon categories.
Representing their club and country alongside USKA and Team England national coach Qasim Beg were... Amad Azim, Rayaan Ellahi, Taiya Lovelock, Elijah Brown, Julia Glowacz, Krystal Durham, Ollie Cooke, Zain Amer, Mati Klaczek, Isa Khan, Kaifah Imran, Maryam Sarfraz, Mohammed Hamza and Ateeq Al Rehman.
After three days of intense competition in the rings and on the mats our 14 magnificent fighters covered themselves in glory amassing an amazing 57 medals including a spectacular 40 Golds, 12 Silvers and 5 Bronzes.
The results and medals speak for themselves but when you add into the mix the high level of opposition, as well as factoring all of the variables of travel and the obstacles that this type of competition can present the performances were truly top draw.
8 of our team placed in the top 25 competitors of the tournament with Kaifah Imran named as the top female competitor for the second year running and Mati Klaczek named as the best male competitor.
Results like this don't happen by accident.
Our team after qualifying at the British Championships put in a solid 6 month training camp attending monthly squad training sessions and training up to 6 days a week under the watchful eye of coaches Qasim Beg, Mushy Younis and Neil Kelly.
We couldn't be prouder of their effort, performances and conduct in Germany and congratulate each and every one of them on their amazing achievements.
USKA/ ICO Team England... We salute you... Osu!
