19-01-25 - USKA Lead the way for safety at ICO First Aid and Safeguarding Courses!
On Sunday 19th January 2025, 13 dedicated members of the USKA Fight Factory coaching team and staff attended essential First Aid and Safeguarding courses at the Light Hall School in Shirley, Birmingham hosted by our National Governing Body the ICO (International Combat Organisation).
The First Aid Course designed to take proactive steps to create a safer environment for all participants at the USKA Fight Factory gym equipped attendees with crucial life-saving skills and knowledge aiming to ensure the well-being of both students and parents in emergency situations including CPR, Defibrillator Use, wound care, Breaks and how to manage common injuries in the sport.
After the First Aid course they moved on to the Safeguarding course emphasizing how to prevent and respond to any concerns related to the protection and welfare of club members, especially minors and vulnerable adults with additional needs.
By completing the courses, these 13 individuals have demonstrated their commitment to providing a safer training environment for each and every member of our community that frequents the USKA Fight Factory gym.
Congratulations to Neil Kelly, Ailbhe Beirne, Qasim Beg, Mushtaq Younis, Deeanne Lawrence, Mohammed Jamaal Hussain, Ateeq Al Rehman, Kaifah Imran, Julia Glowacz, Maryam Sarfraz, Zain Amer, Isa Khan and Elijah Brown who received three year certificates in each course are now further equipped to handle medical emergencies confidently and are better prepared to identify and address safeguarding issues, should they arise.
This step reflects the club’s dedication to maintaining a safe and supportive atmosphere for all members, ensuring that students and athletes can train and compete with the knowledge that their well-being is always a top priority. The club continues to lead by example, demonstrating that safety and responsibility are key pillars in their mission to foster skill development, camaraderie, and respect within the sport of kickboxing.
The club looks forward to further enhancing their safety protocols and encourages all members to follow suit in prioritizing both their physical and mental well-being.
