So yesterday marked the end of another World Championship for the USKA team as part of ICO Team England at the ICO 2025 World Championship in Swansea, Wales.
The Championship this year was the Associations biggest event to date with busy categories across all disciplines to a very high standard indeed.
This year we had three competitors in action for USKA but where we lacked in quantity we definitely made up for in quality.
9 Year old Rayaan 'The Rocket' Ellahi, 14 Year old Julia 'Golden Girl' Glowacz and 15 Year old Isa 'The Hurricane' Khan accompanied by their coaches Neil Kelly and Mushy Younis navigated their way through 4 long tough days of competition and no less than 7 fighting disciplines.
The team could not have performed any better showing heart and skill in each and every fight doing themselves, their families, their club and their country proud.
We finished the competition with an incredible tally of 15 medals including 14 Gold's and 1 Silver that was picked up in a split decision loss that we thought we were unlucky not to get.
On top of the amazing medal tally, USKA Golden Girl Julia Glowacz was presented with a competition Grand Championship trophy for 6 Gold Medals and outstanding performances in all of her bouts at one point overcoming a 40kg weight disadvantage in a + weight category.
Amazing results and performances that we could have only dreamt of going into the competition and certainly a Championships to remember for all the right reasons.
We would like to say a big thank you to the ICO president Grand Master Andrew Hennessy and his wife Fiona for continuing to afford our team the opportunities they do and to tournament organiser and ICO European President Dave Huxtable and his team who delivered a phenomenal event.
Well done all... Osu!
