23-08-26 - ICO Scottish Open 2026 - The USKA Magnificent 7 deliver in Glasgow!

Seven fighters from the USKA Fight Factory made the long trip north to bonny Scotland this weekend to compete at the ICO Scottish Open Championships.

Held at the Easterhouse Sports Centre in Glasgow, the Championships marked the third instalment of this year's ICO 4 Nations Championships, giving our fighters the opportunity to collect the third piece of the 4 Nations puzzle on the road towards completing the set.

Headed by USKA Coaches Neil Kelly and Mushy Younis, our Magnificent 7 were:

The well attended Championships provided plenty of tough challenges as our fighters negotiated their way through Ring Continuous, K-1, Low Kick, Mat Continuous and Boxing categories.

Facing many opponents they had never encountered before, our Magnificent 7 showed tremendous skill, determination and resilience throughout a long, action packed day.
And the final medal haul was outstanding...

 23 GOLD
 5 SILVER
 3 BRONZE

31 MEDALS FROM JUST 7 FIGHTERS!

An incredible achievement, made even more impressive by the fact that several of those Silver medals came from USKA vs USKA finals.

Coaches Neil and Mushy were extremely happy with both the performances and results across the Championships. Just as importantly, the weekend highlighted exactly what needs to be worked on over the coming weeks to turn a few of those Silver and Bronze medals into Gold when we head to the ICO World Championships in France this October. 

A huge thank you must go to our hosts Stuart Lowe and Ryan Lyall at ICO Scotland for their fantastic hospitality and for delivering an excellent Championships for our athletes to compete in.

We would also like to extend a massive thank you to USKA Fight Coach Mushy Younis and Instructors Neil Kelly and Sami Kelly for continually cracking the whip back at the USKA Fight Factory and making sure our fighters arrive at these Championships prepared and ready to perform.
And, of course, thank you to all of our fighters' families. The travelling, the early mornings, the long days, the expense and the unwavering support behind the scenes all play a massive part in allowing these young athletes to chase their goals and dreams.

Every coach, instructor, fighter, parent and supporter is an important and intricate cog in the wheel of success that continues to produce these incredible results time after time.
